"Technician Joe from Authority Mechanical was recently at our place for Dryer Vent Cleaning. This was the first time that we had Joe come in for this task. Joe was very respectful, knowledgeable, and explained what he was doing. We gained a very clear understanding of how the system works, and the fire risk posed by the dryer lint stuck in the exhaust ducting. "Brian always exceeds my expectations when he works on my pool heater. He returns my calls quickly and is here to help me in a day or two. This time he said next day or for sure day after but in the afternoon of the day I called he called and said he wasn't far away did I want him to come over. He quickly diagnosed the problem, fixed it, and did a few other preventative items. He made suggestions on how to avoid problems in the future and the cost for everything was very reasonable. I found out they do other work besides pool heaters so I'll be calling them again for other things. To top it off, they called me the next morning to make sure my pool heater was still working fine. Brian arrived (with a very pleasant outgoing personality) took photographs of the heater's internal parts, and explained what had to be done to repair the heater. The cost of the repair service was well worth my not having to replace a unit costing over $3000. "Our 20+ year old HVAC condo unit broke and we needed an immediate replacement. I searched the manufacturer and found that Authority Mechanical serviced our unit.
I called and made an appointment with Pat. He came out the next day and assessed our unit. As we feared, it could not be repaired because of age and corrosion. But Pat contacted his supplier and he was able to install a brand new unit in 3 days time.
He and Joe did an exceptional job, especially in taking out the old one and bringing in the new one to our 3rd floor unit, which DOESN'T have an elevator. They brought it up three stories, "old school", by carrying up and navigating a a circuitous stairwell with 4 landings. And they, they had the new unit installed in about 4 hours.
Pat even rehung the door and put back the door stops that needed to be removed in order to get the old unit out, and the new unit in, in the same tiny mechanical room. He even made a recommendation how to balance our supply and return air registers.
A few days later our old thermostat went out and we, again, called Authority Mechanical to check it out. They came out the next day and saw their was an electrical issue. Joe replaced the old thermostat with a news state-of-the-art thermostat by the same manufacturer in about 1 hour. He also said how to operate it, and it is "easy-breezy" to do so.
Our mistake was not having the thermostat replaced when the new HVAC unit was, first, installed.
A few days after the new thermostat was installed, the temperatures dropped. And we have not had any problems with it. The unit comes on when it is supposed to, and shuts off when it is supposed to.
When we go out, we drop the temperature a few degrees, and the unit adjusts "not to call for" heat. When we return, we "up" the temperature to what we have it at, and the unit "kicks" on within less than 30 seconds and stays on until it reaches the called-for temperature.
Our condo unit has been heating very nicely, and I would NOT hesitate to recommend Authority Mechanical for a new install or a repair. Their knowledge is outstanding. Their workmanship "great". And they left our condo unit clean. A simple "vacuum" by us, and we were good.
Thank you Pat and Joe for doing an exceptional job on a very "short" notice. You, guys, know your "stuff"!
